After
more than 30 years of growing herbs, it's time for us here at Pete's Herbs
to catch our breath in 2008. Not only do we need to nourish our
stock plants, but ourselves with some time off from the hectic schedule
created from the success of a family business. This spring, Pete's
Herbs will open for sales at the farm location only, starting Feb. 15 and
closing June 15 for the summer. Stop by and see us on Monday,
Wednesday, or Saturday
between the hours of 9 – 3 p.m.
With
our reduced hours, we are also downsizing our selections. However,
you can still expect the same quality of healthy herbs. If there's
something you need that we're not growing, we're happy to take your order.
We'll have plenty of peppers and tomatoes ready for sale in March and
April.
Most
importantly we want to thank all our loyal customers for shopping with us
for all these growing seasons.
Here's
to wishing you a green and colorful herb garden and lots of dirt under
your nails.

Herb of the Year
Calendula
By the Good Earth
Gardener,
Shannon Cavanaugh
Most gardeners enjoy
growing flowers for their beautiful colors and sweet smells, but eating
the petals and the leaves, well that’s a bit scary and takes somewhat of
a dare-devil spirit in the garden and kitchen.
To encourage gardeners to do more than just stopping to smell the
roses, the International Herb Association and the Herb Society have
selected Calendula as their annual herb of
the year to highlight its many culinary and medicinal uses.
